Our co-founder’s marathon success - London 2023
We all celebrated when our co-founder, Alison, crossed the London Marathon finish line yesterday (Sunday 23rd April). It was a mammouth challenge - and marked the end of the craziest few weeks on record for us here (because of the book launch and all the brilliant media interviews!).
Alison completed it in style, smiling all the way (well, in every photo we’ve seen, although she assures us there were some tough times when even a smile might be too much effort). The marathon was a huge achievement for Alison personally, but also for us at From Me to you.
The London Marathon is renowned for the money its participants raise for charities. And this year, for the first time ever, we were one of those charities to benefit after Alison took on the marathon to raise money for our Donate A Book campaign.
We were blown away by the number of donations to Alison’s marathon fundraiser; flooding in on the run up to the event - and on the day itself - meaning we smashed through our initial target. And have more donations coming in…
Every penny raised will go towards sending copies of our book, ‘From Me, To You’ to cancer centres and hospitals across the UK - reaching people who could benefit from reading it.
Alison says; “What a day, what an event, what a response to our campaign. I’ve been overwhelmed by the generous donations we have received; some from people I haven’t heard from for many years, some from complete strangers. It reaffirms our belief at From Me to You that kindness exists - and is infectious. I’m so grateful to everyone who sponsored me and to everyone who cheered me on on the day - here’s me and Brian having a chat at mile 17. He’s always there when I need him”.
